Internship Experience
Liberal Arts Advising Center at Texas State University
Working in an essential office such as the Liberal Arts Advising Center at Texas State has allowed me to gain experience in both office procedures as well as academic affairs, and has boosted my confidence to communicate with college students and staff. I also became very acquainted with working in a fast-pace office that required me to be accountable for multiple projects and responsibilities at a time. This position helped me develop my organizational skills and attention for detail while maintaining the office aesthetic and up-keep of the students’ records. , I was introduced to systems pertaining to the Texas State University network that help keep information in order. I gained a deeper knowledge of policies and procedures that apply to students at Texas State. I also attended training sessions for advisors that disclosed information pertaining to specific majors, data bases, and academic policies. The internship also furthered my knowledge of the advising process, as I was able to shadow advisors and their appointments to get at a better picture of what it entailed to advise a student.
